This talk will present results of several exploratory studies of the privacy-, security-, and abuse-related beliefs and practices for people in under-represented populations. We will explore some of the digital privacy and security challenges of people living in transitional homeless shelters, performative practices employed by women in South Asia to maintain individuality and privacy despite the frequent borrowing and monitoring of their phones by their families and social relations, online abuse experiences and coping practices of women in South Asia, and digital privacy and security motivations, practices, and challenges of survivors of intimate partner abuse.
