Enguerrand Marique holds a Master of Transnational, Comparative and Foreign Law (MA, UCLouvain, Belgium, 2016). During his master, he spent one year on exchange at Durham University (UK). He also read International Commercial Law in the USA (ICL LLM, UC Davis, California, 2017). Since 2016, Enguerrand has been a doctoral researcher at the Centre for Business Law (“CRIDES”) of the UCLouvain (Belgium), working mainly under the supervision of Prof. Alain Strowel (IP/IT law) and Prof. Edoardo Traversa (Taxation). Enguerrand gives tutorials on “Introduction to Belgian legal methods” to exchange students at the UCLouvain. He also gives seminars on “Legal methods for intellectual property and digital practices” to lifelong education students. Enguerrand’s research focuses on the legal tools to build trust in the platform economy, and especially in the “collaborative platforms” (e.g. Airbnb, Uber). He analyses current developments in regulatory (certification and licensing) and legislative (data protection) strategies for building trust. Additionally, Enguerrand undertakes to examine the legal status of online feedbacks (rating, reviews and recommendations) beyond defamation and consumer protection laws, and to find whether the law should deal with this policing tool as a distinct institution. Although his research is mainly rooted into legal methods, he also research economics and sociology literature. Enguerrand guest-edits a special issue of the Revue Internationale de Droit Economique (2019/3) on the regulation of digital platforms. He always welcomes questions and suggestions relating to his research interests.
